Exercise Supported Stroke Recovery

  • The goal of this study is to determine whether in-bed exercise completed early in the hospital course improves brain inflammation after a brain hemorrhage, or bleed.

Who can participate?

This study is designed for adults who...

  • Recently experienced a brain hemorrhage
    Have relatively mild difficulties
  • It may not be safe to participate if you...

    Have certain inflammatory conditiions or infections
    Need anti-inflammatory medication
    Experienced a severe stroke
    Have injury to your hips or pelvis
    Are pregnant
    Are obese

When do I start?

Participation starts within 3 days of hemorrhage

How long will I be followed?

  • Critical Care
  • Stroke Center
  • Discharge

Key activities

You will be asked to...

Participate in supervised exercise during your hospitalization
Follow up with the study care team after discharge
Answer questions about your recovery

Participation is your choice and you can stop any time
Participation will not change your routine health care
If you experience certain changes to your health or must take other medications, you may be told you can no longer participate.
