Nursing Intensity after Stroke

  • Observation
  • The goal of this study is to determine the most effective level of nursing for patients who received thrombolysis, or "clot busting" medicine, shortly after their ischemic stroke.

Who can participate?

This study is designed for adults who...

    Had a recent stroke caused by blocked vessels
    Received thrombolysis ("TPA")
  • It may not be safe to participate if you...

    Are over 80 years old
    You wish to be in other studies that use experimental medications or therapy
    Medically require intensive care in the NCCU
    Experienced a very severe stroke

When do I start?

Participation starts during the first few hours after you arrive at the emergency department with a recent stroke.

How long will I be followed?

  • Critical Care
  • Stroke Center
  • Discharge

You will be asked to...

Follow-up with the research team up to 3 months after your stroke
Answer questions about your recovery

Participation is your choice and you can stop any time
Participation will not change your routine health care
If you experience certain changes to your health or must take other medications, you may be told you can no longer participate.
