Web Decision Aid + Communication tool

The goal of this study is to test a web-based shared decision-making tool to help families make fully informed decisions about life-sustaining treatments for patients with severe brain injuries in ICU settings.

    Speak & Write English fluently
    Represent a critically ill patient with a severe brain injury
  • It may not be appropriate to participate if you...

    Represent a patient with certain anticipated outcomes or for whom goals of care decisions already have been made

When do I start?

Participation starts at least 3 days after admission

How long will I be followed?

  • Critical Care
  • Stroke Center
  • Discharge

Participate in family meetings
Complete questionnaires before and after family meetings

Participation is your choice and you can stop any time
Participation will not change your routine health care
If you experience certain changes to your health or must take other medications, you may be told you can no longer participate.
